A pro-Palestine group defaced the main entry gate of the Finnish Ministry of Defence in Helsinki with paint early Saturday demanding cancellation of the agreements with Israeli arms companies, the group named Palestine Action said.
The incident took place after the mid-night when two people sprayed the paint at the gate and adjacent wall, local media reported, quoting police.
Responding an alarm from the security guard, police rushed to the spot, but the suspects already left the scene by this time.
“Palestine Action launches in Finland by spraying the Ministry of Defence in red paint, to demand the country ends contracts with Israeli weapons companies,” the group wrote in a post on its social media platform X on Saturday.
Police are investigating into the case as aggravated vandalism.
Palestine Action is a direct action movement committed to ending global participation in Israel’s genocidal and apartheid regime, according to the website of the group.
Earlier in November 2023, Finland signed a deal with Israel to procure David's Sling air defence system at a cost of about 317 million euros.
