Finland summons Russian envoy over Polish airspace violation

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland on Friday summoned the Russian ambassador over the violation of Polish airspace, according to the ministry.

“The MFA summoned the Russian ambassador over the violation of Polish airspace. Drones in the airspace of Poland are unacceptable. Poland has Finland’s full support,” the Ministry wrote in a post on its social media platform X.

It also said that NATO is ready to defend its territory.

“Russia must end its war of aggression and comply with the international law,” the ministry added.

Different countries including France, Germany and the Netherlands also summoned Russian envoys following the violation of Poland's airspace by 19 Russian drones, which occurred late Tuesday and early Wednesday during attacks on neighbouring Ukraine.

Earlier in June, Finland summoned the Russia's chargé d'affaires over a suspected violation of Finnish airspace by Russian military aircraft.

Finland on May 26, also summoned the Russia's ambassador to Helsinki, Pavel Kuznetsov over another suspected violation of Finnish airspace by two Russian military aircraft.
