The City of Helsinki announced a participatory budgeting programme with the view to implement proposals to be made by the city dwellers, said the City in a press release.
The City invited its residents to make proposals on various issues for improving city services and their local area.
The city allocated a budget of 10 million euros for implementation of the selected proposals.
Under the participatory budgeting program named OmaStadi, Helsinki residents can submit proposals from September 22 to October 5, 2025.
Development proposals can relate to different aspects of the City of Helsinki's activities, such as promoting urban culture and community spirit, as well as improving services and the urban environment.
Residents can submit their proposal at omastadi.hel.fi.
This proposal stage will be followed by the next phase, during which the City will assess the feasibility of the proposals and compile cost estimates.
The proposals will be put to a vote between March 11 and March 29, 2026, and the proposals with the most votes will be implemented.
Support for making proposals and voting for them will be available on the fourth OmaStadi round at many of the City’s service points, such as the City libraries and the service centres for seniors.
