Finland on Tuesday expressed profound shock at the deaths of people in the earthquake in Afghanistan.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a post on its social media platform X also expressed empathy to the family members, relatives of the victims and people of Afghanistan.
“We are deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that took place in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday and has caused extensive loss of life and material damage. Our thoughts are with those affected, their loved ones, and the people of Afghanistan,” the ministry wrote in the post.
More than 1,411 people were killed and 3,124 others injured in an earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan on Sunday.
Over 8,000 residential houses, primarily in Kunar province, have been completely or partially destroyed due to the earthquake.
