President Alexander Stubb on Tuesday hailed the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to send weapons to Ukraine.
“I welcome President´s (President of the United States) decision to enable Ukraine with more weapons in its fight against Russia’s illegal war of agression,” Stub wrote in a post on his social media platform X.
He also wrote that the 50 day deadline for a ceasefire combined with the threat of sanctions package, are an important development in forcing Russia to the negotiating table.
“Work with allies continues towards a lasting and just peace,” the President added.
Earlier on Monday, Trump said that the United States will send weapons to Ukraine through NATO and threatened "severe tariffs" targeting Russia, if a ceasefire deal is not reached in 50 days, reported Xinhua.
Trump announced an agreement with NATO regarding weapons to assist Ukraine while meeting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office.
"We are going to be sending them weapons and they're going to be paying for them," said Trump, adding that the United States will manufacture those weapons.
