MP discloses her sex work in teenage life

A lawmaker in Finnish Parliament Anna Kontula disclosed that she engaged in sex work in her teenage life, reported a leading Finnish language newspaper Helsingin Sanomat on Saturday.

Kontula, an MP of the opposition Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) in an exclusive interview with the Helsingin Sanomat told that she worked as a sex worker at the age of 16 when she was a student.

The lawmaker pointed out financial crisis and search for excitement as reasons behind her involvement in the sex trade and she collected clients through advertisement in newspaper.

She also told that she continued the work for about two years at the first phase until meeting her first husband but returned to sex work again after end of her first conjugal life.

Kontula obtained her PhD in Social Science and the topic of her doctoral dissertation was on sex work in Finland.

Kontula, who has been serving as a lawmaker in Finnish Parliament since 2011, however, said that this term will be last term for her in the Parliament.

Selling and buying sex is legal In Finland, if pimping and human trafficking are not involved in the work.
