Man burnt to death in Rauma, 1 killed in road mishap in Outokumpu

An elderly man was burnt to death in a fire at a building in Rauma while one a private car driver was killed in a road accident in Outokumpu late Friday night, police said in separate press releases.

Police said that the elderly man was killed when a fire broke out in an apartment building in Rauma, a municipality under Satakunta region late Friday night.

Responding to an alarm Rescue service people rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

They recovered the body of the deceased in the apartment and informed the police in this regard.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identity of the victim and the origin of the fire.

They are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the incident.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and five others were injured in a collision between two private cars in Outokumpu, a municipality under North Karelia region late Friday night.

The accident took place on Kuusjärventie road near Savonkatu area at about 8:00 p.m.

Driver of a car, who was alone onboard, died on the spot while driver and four passengers of the other car were injured.

Police did not disclose the identities of the victims and details about the accident but said that the driver of the car carrying passengers is suspected of drunk driving.

They accused the driver of gross endangerment of traffic safety and aggravated murder.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out more information in this regard.
