Moroccan House of Representatives Speaker visits Finnish Parliament

A delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco, Rachid Talbi El Alami visited the Parliament of Finland on Friday, said the Parliament in a press release.

Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and Speaker Talbi El Alami held discussions together with representatives of Finnish parliamentary groups.

They discussed bilateral relations between Finland and Morocco, inter-parliamentary cooperation, domestic political developments in both countries, and key international issues, such as support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's war of aggression, the situation in the Sahel region, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Finnish lawmakers Jukka Kopra, Jani Mäkelä, Tytti Tuppurainen, Eerikki Viljanen, Oras Tynkkynen, Laura Meriluoto, Anders Norrback, and Peter Östman were present at the discussion.

Further discussions on EU and foreign policy took place over a working dinner, also attended by Chair of the Grand Committee Saara-Sofia Sirén and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Johannes Koskinen.

During his visit to Parliament, Speaker Talbi El Alami also met with Deputy Speaker Tarja Filatov and Members of Parliament from the Finnish-Moroccan Friendship Group.

The visit of Speaker Talbi El Alami to Finland on 11–12 September was hosted by Speaker Jussi Halla-aho.
