The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Monday discussed the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Finland and the United States and decided in favour of approving the outcome of the negotiations on the agreement, said a government press release.
Parliament has been regularly informed of the progress of the negotiations as per the constitution.
Parliament needs to authorise the agreement before it can be adopted.
Finland and the United States on October 31 completed negotiations on a bilateral Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA)
The President and the Ministerial Committee also discussed the situation at Finland’s eastern border, issues related to Russia and Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, and held a preparatory discussion on the priorities for civilian and military intelligence in 2024.
