Two men died after falling through ice into a lake at Äänekoski, a municipality in Central Finland region on Tuesday, police said in a press release on Wednesday.
The incident took place when they went to catch fish at Lake Keitelejärvi and drowned into the thin ice of the lake.
As the men did not return to home after a long time, family members of one of the victims called the emergency centre late Tuesday night.
Responding to the alarm rescue service people and police rushed to the spot at about 9:30 pm and found ice fishing equipment in the lake just few hundred meters away from Havusalmentie parking place.
Rescue service people conducted search in the lake and recovered the bodies of the sunken fishermen from under the ice.
The police did not divulge the identities of the deceased but said that they are men and came from outside of the locality.
The police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the deaths but did not suspect any crime link to the incident.
Meanwhile, police recovered body of another person from a river in Pori, a municipality under Satakunta region on Tuesday, said police in a separate press release on Wednesday.
Local people found the body floating in Kokemäenjoki river at Porinsilta area in the afternoon at about 3:30 p.m. and informed the police in this regard.
Police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body from there.
Police said that the deceased might be the same bridge construction worker who fell from an under-construction bridge into the river in between Pori and Ulvila areas in January.
Police are investigating into the death as a suspected occupational safety crime.
