Up to 6 Finnish soldiers to join NATO security, training for Ukraine

The President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Tuesday outlined that Finland would participate in NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine with a maximum of six soldiers.

The committee at a meeting discussed the situation at eastern border and in sea area, Finland’s support to Ukraine and intelligence priorities for 2025, said an official press release.

The committee outlined that the Finnish soldiers will participate in NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine as part of the comprehensive assistance package agreed on at the NATO Summit in Washington.

Finland stresses the importance of the Allies’ continuous and long-term international support for Ukraine’s defence capability.

The committee also discussed the situation in the Middle East and received a briefing on the Resolutions on the Question of Palestine adopted annually by the UN General Assembly.

It discussed the laws adopted by the Israeli parliament concerning the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA.

Finland supports the UN and the multilateral rules-based international system.

The committee also discussed on the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) scheduled to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11 to November 22.
