A 15-year-old girl, who sustained serious wounds in a collision between an electric scooter and a private car on Sunday in Pirkkala, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place when the girl was riding on the e-scooter along with another 15-year-old girl and collided with a car at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Naistenmatkantie and Pirjolantie in Pirkkala, a municipality under Pirkanmaa region.
Both the girls were injured in the accident and taken to hospital where one of them, who was driving the e-scooter succumbed to her wounds on Tuesday.
Police suspected the driver of the e-scooter of violating traffic rules while driving on the pedestrian crossing.
The injuries of rest the girl, however, were not life-threatening, said police.
Police did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the injured girl.
Police also suspected the car driver and continued investigation into the case to find out whether, the car driver maintained the special care of the traffic rules regarding pedestrian crossing.
After the preliminary investigation, police charged the car driver with endangering traffic safety and causing death and injury.
