Police did not rule out a criminal offence in the death of a woman after falling from the balcony of a building in Helsinki on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
The police are investigating into the case to find out whether it was an accidental death or suspected murder.
“The circumstances are still being established, and a criminal offence has not been ruled out,” said police in a press release.
Depending on the findings, the case will proceed either as a death investigation or as a suspected homicide, said police.
The police will update the information when new findings will be available.
The law enforcing agency also requested information from the people, if they witnessed the incident or heard anything in this regard.
One person was killed after falling from the balcony of a building in Helsinki City centre area on Wednesday evening.
The accident took place at about 6:00 p.m. when a part of the railing of the balcony was broken and the person fell down from the balcony of the building at Hietalahdenkatu area.
Earlier in May 2025, another person was killed after falling from the balcony of a building in Vantaa.
