Partioaitta is organizing a traditional coat collection again this year to distributes the clothes warm among the homeless people.
National postal and logistics services operator Posti extended its cooperation to Partioaitta in this regard, said Posti in a press release on Monday.
As the weather gets colder, the lack of a warm winter coat is a real problem for many of Finland's thousands of homeless people.
Posti and Transval are partners in the collection for the fourth year. We pick up the coats from the stores, check their condition in the warehouse, sort them according to wishes and pack them in roll containers and deliver them directly to the locations of the charity organizations.
People are urged to donate their warm, intact and clean coat to the Partioaitta store by October 8.
The jacket brought to the store will be distributed to those in need. In addition to the Night of the Homeless events, jackets are distributed throughout the fall and winter in different parts of Finland by local organizations.
In previous times, several thousand coats have been donated each year.
