Finland for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Finland on Monday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and full access of humanitarian aid there.

Speaking at the Gaza Conference in Cairo, Under-Secretary of State Jarno Syrjälä also called for the release of all hostage and said Finland is preparing to allocate EUR 3 million additional humanitarian assistance to Gaza, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a post on its social media platform X.

"Finland calls for an immediate ceasefire, full access of humanitarian aid and the release of all hostages in Gaza. Finland is preparing to allocate 3 MEUR of additional humanitarian assistance to Gaza,” said the post, quoting Syrjälä as saying.

The ministerial conference kicked off on Monday in Cairo to garner regional and international support for the besieged Gaza and alleviate the sufferings of the Palestinian people, reported Xinhua.

The meeting is being held under the auspices of the Egyptian President with the participation of 103 delegations of various countries, international organizations, and financial institutions, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini told the conference that "UNRWA has preserved the Palestinian identity since its establishment and works in accordance with international law and to protect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."
