The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) on Thursday started a cooperation negotiations concerning the majority of the staff, about 900 public officials out of the total 1300, said the Migri in a press release.
The negotiations, however, do not aim to reduce staff.
The reorganisation move was taken in order to improve its ability.
“In my view, the reform is important for the entire organisation. In order to meet the goals set in the Government Programme, we need to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop greater competence in process management,” said Migri´s Director General of Ilkka Haahtela.
“The reorganisation focuses on our staff and their possibilities to succeed in their work. Our structures and responsibilities must support us in achieving our goals. That is why our staff has been actively involved in the process, and the dialogue with them will continue during the cooperation negotiations,” Haahtela added.
The Migri has not conducted cooperation negotiations of this scale before to examine the agency’s structures with regard to its staff, strategy and common goals.
Another aim is to enhance the quality of working life and the efficiency and economy of the central government.
