The bodies of two people, who died 30 years ago, were found in freezers in a detached house in Turku last year, a local newspaper Nya Åland reported on Thursday.
The deceased were an elderly couple and one of them died in 1994 and the rest one died in 1995. Both the deaths were natural.
The report, quoting police, said that the bodies were handed over to the relatives of the deceased that time for burial but they did not take measures in this regard.
According to the report, the Southwest Finland Police communicated with the authority of Åland´s capital city Mariehamn to organise funeral for the deceased.
Police suspect one of the relatives of the deceased of the crime.
The relative wanted to preserve the deceased for the future, reported national broadcaster Yle, quoting police.
Chief Detective Inspector Lasse Höysti told Yle that the gravestone of the deceased still remained at the cemetery.
After the preliminary investigation police sensed the incident could be true and conducted search in a detached house, where they found two freezers, said the Yle report.
The investigation into the case was completed in Autumn this year and Police forwarded the case to the prosecutor office for considering charges.
