One person was burnt to death in a fire at a building in Taivassalo while a cyclist was killed in a road accident in Mikkeli on Sunday, police said in separate press releases.
Police said that one person was killed when a fire broke out in an apartment building in Taivassalo, a municipality under Southwest Finland region on Sunday afternoon.
A housekeeper found smoke coming from the apartment and informed the emergency service immediately.
Responding to the alarm Rescue service personnel and police rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
They recovered the body of the deceased from there. The kitchen of the apartment was damaged in the fire.
Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the victim and the origin of the fire.
They are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.
Meanwhile, a cyclist was killed when a private car allegedly knocked down him at Ristiina area in Mikkeli, a municipality under South Savo region early Sunday night in between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
The victim was a 45-year-old local man but police did not divulge his detail identity.
Police suspected crime link to the incident and investigating into the case to find out the reason behind it.
Police are requesting information from the people about the incident and the private car and its driver.
